Hakonechloa macra ‘Beni-kaze’

Hakonechloa macra ‘Beni-kaze’

Description

Through spring and summer, this variety of Hakone Grass remains a loose, 40 cm mound of rich green foliage; come fall, the ribbon-like leaves of ‘Beni Kaze’ (which means “red wind” in Japanese) turn a striking red. It’s just the thing to punctuate a shady border or container, or mass along a pond to reflect the trees’ autumn tints.
